Settling In
PRE-PREP (NURSERY)
At The Village, we aim to give all our girls the very best start, beginning with a taster session and a chat with the Headteacher before your daughter joins. In the Summer Term, both you and your daughter will be invited to a Tea Party to meet teachers, new friends and parents.
We offer you the flexibility to build attendance throughout the year, with a minimum of three morning sessions (8.30-1pm) towards full-time attendance in the Summer Term prior to your daughter’s 5th birthday.
Settling in transition will always respond to individual needs and requirements, working closely together to ensure your family’s settling in procedure is a smooth and joyful experience.
PREP (RECEPTION)
As a member of The Early Years, there is a natural transition into the first year of proper school whilst retaining the benefits of the Early Years environment. Although the children still have plenty of opportunities for child-initiated learning, they also follow a more structured timetable based on lessons that cover all the 7 areas of the EYFS curriculum.
As we progress through the year, we encourage and extend the independent learning and involvement within the main school through assemblies, charity days and whole school events.
Within the Prep Class Curriculum, the teachers plan for all the children to have an individualised learning experience. Girls are encouraged and challenged to ensure they learn at their own pace with support and extension activities provided during every lesson. Parents are encouraged and guided as to how to be involved with their daughter’s learning. This partnership ensures every child finishes their year in Prep ‘Lower I ready’.
The Prep girls can also choose from a number of extra-curricular activities, including ballet, sports and craft clubs.
By the end of their time in Early Years, all the girls are confident, happy and well-prepared to move up into Key Stage 1.
